The 1937 Season Set.  The New York Yankees won their second World Series in a row against their cross town rivals, the New York Giants 4 games to 1.  The Yankees won the American League by 13 games over the Detroit Tigers.  Charlie Gehringer won the AL MVP with a .371 average but the Yankees had a pair of stars that made the difference with Lou Gehrig who hit .351 and belted 37 Home Runs and Joe DiMaggio who hit .346 and smoked 46 Home Runs.  The Yankees also had a pair of 20 game winners with Lefty Gomezwho won 21 and Red Ruffing's 20 wins.  In the National League, the New York Giants edged out the Chicago Cubs by 3 games.  Joe Medwick won the NL MVP hitting .374 with 31 Home Runs and 56 Doubles.  The Giants had a great leader in Mel Ott who teamed up with 22 game winner Carl Hubbell and 20 game winner Cliff Melton. The 1937 season featured great hitting with the American League batting .281 and the National League hitting .272.  The country was finally nearing the end of the Great Depression and World War II was on the horizon but the baseball was good with plenty of heroes, young and old.  Relive it all with Dugout Steps Baseball and the 1937 Season Set.
