DSB-H-1960
The Golden Ara of baseball, described by baseball historians as the years from 1920 or so to 1960, sees a fitting and gripping end when Bill Mazeroski hit a Home Run to left-center field to give the Pirates a victory in 7 games over the New York Yankees. 1960 is the final season before expansion. All 16 teams were very strong in 1960 and there are many Hall of Fame players in both leagues. The New York Yankees won the American League behind AL MVP Roger Maris and an always great Mickey Mantle. There were no 20 game winners in the American League where Jim Perry and Chuck Estrada led the way with 18 victories. The Pirates won the National League with Dick Groat, the slick fielding shortstop, winning the NL MVP Award. Warren Spahn and Ernie Broglio both won 21 games to lead the NL. The Golden Age of baseball shines bright as did the 1960 Major League Baseball season. Relive it all with Dugout Steps Baseball and the 1960 Season Set.
