The 1961 Major League Baseball season is one of the most unique in history.  Everyone remembers the chase between Yankee players Roger Maris and Micky Mantle to break the Babe's single season home run record, which Maris eventually eclipsed with 61 home runs, but 1961 had many other interesting things.  The American League went through several changes.  The Washington Senators moved to Minnesota and became the Twins.  The AL then added a new team in Washington D.C. and called them the Senators and also added a second new team, the Los Angeles Angels, who played in LA's own Wrigley Field.  1961 was the last season the Dodgers would play at LA Memorial Coliseum with it's incredibly short Left Field porch that featured a 40 foot high screen so spectators could see from the bleachers.  Even the schedule was different as the American League played a 162 games for the first time and the National League played a 154 games for the last time.  An exciting season for sure!  Relive it all with Dugout Steps Baseball and the 1961 Season Set.
