The 2000-01 NHL Season Set.  Mario Lemieux returns from retirement and Ray Bourque finally wins a Stanley Cup.  The Minnesota Wild and the Columbus Blue Jackets enter the NHL as expansion teams.  The NHL was filled with stars at the beginning of the new millennium and the usual suspects had strong teams including Colorado, New Jersey, Detroit, Dallas, St. Louis, Philadelphia and Ottawa - each of them had 100 point seasons.  The young Senators made a splash during the regular season but were swept in the opening round by the Toronto Maple Leafs.  Three of the four conference semifinal match-ups went a full seven games.  The the conference finals, the strong teams emerged as the Colorado Avalanche beat the St. Louis Blues in 5 games and the New Jersey Devils dispatched the Pittsburgh Penguins in 5 games.  That set the stage for an epic Stanley Cup final between the Avalanche and Devils that went 7 games and featured two of the greatest goaltenders in NHL history:  Patrick Roy and Martin Brodeur.  The Avalanche beat the Devils 3-1 in game 7 giving Roy another Cup and Raymond Bourque his first.  Joe Sakic won the Hart while Patrick Roy won the Conn Smythe.  Pavel Bure led the league with 59 Goals, Adam Oates and Jaromir Jagr led with 69 Assists and Jagr led in Points with 121.  Martin Bordeur won 42 games in goal for the Devils while Marty Turco led the NHL in Save% at .925 and Goals Against Average at 1.90 and Dominik Hasek won the Vezina Trophy.  The 2000-01 NHL Season is iconic in NHL history.  Relive it all with Rinkside Hockey and the 2000-01 Season Set.
