The 2005-06 Season Set.  The NHL turns the page.  After the ugly and bitter lockout which cancelled the 04-05 NHL Season, the NHL returns with a fresh start.  The fresh start is most recognized in the fresh faces as Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin take the NHL by storm.  Crosby and Overchkin were drafted first overall in consecutive years but debut in the same year due to the lost season.  They both score over 100 Points but Ovechkin wins the Calder Trophy.  The Penguins and Capitals both finished in last place in their respective divisions but the future would become very bright for both franchises.  This is Mario Lemieux's last season and Wayne Gretzky was behind the bench for the Phoenix Coyotes.  The Detroit Red Wings ran away with the President's Trophy but were rocked in a first round upset by the Edmonton Oilers.  The Oilers would go on an amazing cup run and met the Carolina Hurricanes in the Stanley Cup Final.  The Hurricanes beat the Oilers in 6 games.  Joe Thornton was traded by the Bruins to the Sharks and led the NHL in Assists and Points and won the Hart.  Jonathan Cheechoo led the NHL in goals.  This season features old faces in new places and plenty of young superstar talent.  Relive all of the excitement and the return of the NHL with Rinkside Hockey and the 2005-06 Season Set.
