The Guarantee, poolside interviews and emergence of the American Football League.  The 1968 professional football world saw the the brash Joe Namath and the New York Jets shock the mighty Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III.  The rival leagues played tremendous football in 1968.  The Baltimore Colts were the class of the established National Football League with a record of 13-1.  The Dallas Cowboys were pretty good as well at 12-2.  The Cleveland Browns and the Minnesota Vikings rounded out the playoff field in the NFL while the Los Angeles Rams and St. Louis Cardinals had good seasons but missed the post season party.  In the AFL, the Oakland Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs tied at the top of the West Division with 12-2 records but the Raiders blew out the Chiefs, earning the right to play the New York Jets who won the East at 11-3.  The Jets beat the Raiders 27-23 in a hard fought game and were off to the Super Bowl III.  Baltimore beat the Vikings and then the Browns and were heavy favorites against the Jets.  We all know what happened next.  1968 is a great and historic season in the annals of professional football.  Relive it all with Sideline Football and the 1968 AFL/NFL Season Set.
